The Penelope Series
Each night Penelope unravelled the shroud of Laertes that she had spent the day weaving. A cycle of create and destroy guarenteed that she would never have to marry any of her suitors as she waited for the return of Odysseus.
The cycle of create and destroy, plant and reap is one that occurs in life, the seasons and the garden.
These works, which are the beginning of an ongoing series often executed with prunings from my garden on treated paper exposed to seasonal weather conditions, reflect on ideas of cycle and diurnal repetition.
